Thousands of Jewish people live in extreme poverty in Gondar, Ethiopia as they wait for immigration to Israel.

Whether they remain there as an independent community or move to Israel in the future, Meketa's goal is to give them skills so they can create a better economic and social future.

Meketa helps this community to help themselves.

Meketa's Training and Employment projects teach skills like sewing which allow members of the community to support their families with dignity.

After-school club

Supporting children's education with classes, homework help and extra-curricular activities.

Microloans

Borrowers compile a business plan and receive a suitably sized loan. Meketa assists with start-up and provides ongoing support.

Vocational Training

Meketa helps school leavers and job seekers by giving them training in a skill that can lead to employment.

Traditional Crafts

Local craftsmen and craftswomen make Tallitot and Kippot which are for sale in our shop.

Child Sponsorship

Sponsored children receive a school uniform and set of books at the start of the school year, in addition to a monthly direct payment.

Help for the Vulnerable

The elderly and those with illnesses who are unable to work also receive financial support from Meketa.
